The Scientist & The Communicator
I am Vidthdyan Veeravakaran, a PhD Fellow specializing in Cancer Research and Genome Editing. My academic journey is driven by a fascination with the microscopic mechanisms that govern human health and a burning interest in making a difference in improving human health.
Currently, I am conducting my doctoral research at Department of Hematology, Aalborg University Hospital and Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University in Denmark.

My Research Focus
My work sits at the cutting edge of precision medicine. I utilize different CRISPR-Cas9 technologies and functional tests to investigate the molecular drivers and passengers of Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. A significant part of my research involves deciphering Variants of Uncertain Significance - the genomic "gray areas" where we see a genetic variant but don't yet understand its impact on disease development.
By understanding these variants, we can move closer to truly personalized cancer treatments.
Professional Background
Before I started my PhD, I earned my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biotechnology and Medical Biotechnology, respectively. My background has provided me with a rigorous foundation in molecular techniques, data analysis and visualization, and experimental design.
In addition to my research, I am passionate about:
